Fund-raisin'

Far before I accepted the position at my new job and made an extremely difficult decision to leave the restaurants, I was able to help fund raise for some amazing non-profits in Eugene. As the events coordinator for two very popular restaurants, I was able to use my position as a platform to encourage philanthropy and unity in our community in small but important ways. I'm very lucky to be a part of a community that loves on each other. Below are my memories of my last events with Agate.

Above was an event for The Boys and Girls Club. 12 ex-Duck current NFL players donated their appearances/signed jerseys/commitment to raising money to help tutor/feed and keep kids in Lane Co. healthy and safe.

Above is the annual "Chef's Night Out" which contributes funds to Food for Lane County. FFLC feeds thousands of families in our area. Did you know that a postal worker who also volunteered for FFLC is the man who started the postal canned food drives? Kind of cool.

I've been incredibly blessed in my young, professional career. I've gained an abundance of love and support, friendship, experience and extended family. I'm thrilled about this new chapter but fondly look back on the previous.

Southern Vacation

THE SOUTH (thee-sauth) noun.

The Place Where...

1. Tea is sweet and accents are sweeter

2. Summer starts in April

3. Mac and cheese is a vegetable

4. Front porches are wide and words are long

5. Pecan pie is a staple

6. Y'all is the only proper noun

7. Chicken is fried and biscuits come with gravy

8. Everything is darlin'

9. Someone's heart is always bein' blessed

Jeremy blessed me with a trip to see my sister in Birmingham, AL and my mother in Woodstock, GA. We had so much fun. With an itinerary filled with nothing but fun coupled with time spent with family, I'd say that this trip was one for the books. Here are some highlights:

I love the South for so many reasons. The culture is significantly different than the Pacific NW.  I truly enjoyed the Southern hospitality, warm greetings, wonderful service, non-judgment, and acceptance. I appreciated the history, the sense of pride and beautiful landscape. I'm so thankful to have family to visit in such wonderful cities. I'm so thankful to have a husband who saw how much I missed my family, so he took action and did something about it.

To Momma, Robert, Cali, Hannah and Nathan,

I love you all so much. Thank you for a wonderful vacation. I miss everything about seeing you everyday.

Hello Again..

It has been an abnormally long time since I've last blogged. For those of you who follow my blog, hello again! Let's get you updated!

We celebrated Thanksgiving in Jeremy's grandfathers nearly 100 year old barn that Jeremy has finished phase one of renovations on. A barn Thanksgiving? Why not. With Jeremy on the construction and me and his Aunt and Grandma on the decor.. I'm just going to say that it was the most Pottery Barn moment of my life.(This picture was taken the day that Grandpa Chuck died. His cows were a ::huge::huge:: part of the family's lives. It was enlarged and framed and presented to Grandma on Thanksgiving.)

Christmas Pictures

Jeremy and I had some Christmas card photos taken recently on his Grandmother's farm. I love this farm for so many reasons. It's a very special and enchanting place to be. His family (whom I adore with all of my heart) grew up there-we're talking multiple generations, Jeremy learned a lot of his hard work ethic through numerous projects with his fabulously missed Grandfather (who passed away after fighting cancer for 13 or so years), I first met his family over dinner here, every nook and corner houses a special memory. As a side note, it's been very special for Grandma to have Jeremy there working on numerous projects including a kitchen/master bath reno and a complete barn restoration on the 90+ year old barn, which he has finished phase 1 of. Lots of love on this farm. Lots.

My Mom-Is-Coming-Checklist

I recently had a conversation with my mom about her making a long flight from Woodstock, GA to Pleasant Hill, OR to visit me and my family (who are also spread out to Central Oregon). I cannot wait!! I haven't seen her since our wedding in 2008! I also am excited to have a deadline for some little, and frankly embarrassing, things that need to be done around the house. (Mom, if you're reading this, don't feel bad that we're doing all of this in your honor, it's just a fabulous excuse and a reasonable deadline to get all of these things done)

Here's my incredibly revealing and un-edited list:
(for those of you who know me, this disorganization may be a shock, I would remove any children from the room, I wouldn't want to be a bad example. YA it's that bad)

Weight Room:- Texture/Paint/New light fixture

Guest Bedroom:

- New custom closet built/painted/installed (carpet in closet ripped out)
-New wood blinds

Master Bedroom:-Build a bench/make cushions/find baskets for under storage
-Wall decorations
-Hooks for behind door
-Matching table lamps
-Trim out big window
-Shorten blinds (wayyy too much excess)
-Add height to far corner

Office:

-Finish slate/grout/seal
-Wall decorations above desk

Bathroom:


-Organize/clean under sink

Kitchen:
-Clean/organize under sink
(i think even my camera was a little shocked at this one)

Entry hall way:
-Repair ceiling (it's hard to get a house roofed when your husband is the one doing it, and he also has a job...unfortunately Eugene weather isn't consistent and we had a leak mid project)
-Prime/paint ceiling
-Build Bench
-Hang coat hooks
-Make and hang decorative sign

Living Room:

-Fill holes in trim around sliders/windows
-Prime/paint trim
-Touch up grout

Outside:
-Seal/pressure wash chimney
-Build/plant garden
-take out bamboo
-pressure wash/weed/yard maintenance/burn piles burnt
-Empty tarp building (my mother in law has some things of hers that she stores in a tarp building in our front yard, we're in the process of emptying it out and getting rid of the tarp building)

Cannot wait to get these things started and more importantly cannot wait for the arrival of my mom!!
